Al Gore Wins Nobel Prize

The face of peace ….
It was announced that Al Gore won a Nobel Prize this morning.
Funny, I didn’t know they gave a Nobel Prize for hypocrisy.
More ironic still is that he shared the prize with the United Nations IPCC which has a proven record of political pandering and attempts to stifle dissenting opinions.
How do you give The Nobel Peace Prize to a man who has called for people to forcibly block the construction of new coal plants? How much sense does it make to award the Nobel Peace Prize to someone who referred to the United States and Australia as “Bonnie and Clyde?”
What’s the matter? Duke lacrosse prosecutor Michael Nifong wasn’t eligible for the award this year?
Apparently, like the value of the the U.S. dollar, a college diploma and Britney Spears, the Nobel Prize ain’t what it used to be.

Hi,
Must be a generation HUGE gap here. Al Gore has been dedicated to environmental causes and issues since the 60’s I believe…it runs in his family! Furthermore, he has helped awaken many minds to the reality that the earth is getting hot: ask some drowning polar bears.
Perhaps someday people will recognize you as someone who makes a difference! At this point in earth’s history, us humans need to work together to save our being here much longer. Different opinons are necessary, but let’s work together for change. Mary

Mary,
I’m a big fan of listening to differing opinions and working together.
I just wish Al Gore felt the same way.
Threats, hyperbole and inaccuracies have been a hallmark of Gore since the ’60s and, to me, that would seem to be antithetical to being awarded any kind of “peace” prize.
As far as polar bears, they are as endangered as Evan Trembley The polar bear myth, as well as other common urban legends perpetuated by Gore’s film, have recently been debunked (yet again) in the British courts.
IMHO, fear-mongering based on dubious science may be grounds for some kind of award, just not the Nobel Prize for Peace.

I cannot believe what I am reading here. Al Gore wasn’t awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for saving the polar bears or anything else other than, to “build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.” (Nobel Committee)
People will always disagree whether they believe his heart is into this cause our not. The point and the reason why he received the award was because he made other people care. No one else in the world right now can say that there is someone else more deserving than Gore for being the medium for that kind of influence.
Lets not forget too that when Al Gore was vice president he was overpowered by strong White-House opponents who blocked any attempts they had at passing climate bills, or universal health care, etc… The true hypocrits are the people who are in office now and do the absolute minimum for the environment.
Also, no other country in the world is as big a polluter as the United States. That is a fact. And by doing nothing about it make them criminals like “Bonnie and Clyde.” If I dumped a bucket of oil down the storm-drain I could be arrested, yet the US can be the worlds biggest polluter for nothing other than for their own gain and they are exempt for all criticism?
